Welcome to NFWLHA "सक्षमताको प्रश्न महिलालाइ मात्र कहिले सम्म ?
The National Federation of Women Living with HIV and AIDS (NFWLHA) is a women-led organization established in 2006 following a collective discourse on the need for gender equality within the People Living with HIV (PLHIV) community and was formally registered as NFWLHA in 2007.
NFWLHA is not merely a network but a movement grounded in the belief that women have the capacity to lead change for themselves and their communities. Over the years, the organization has expanded its reach to 46 districts across nearly all provinces of Nepal, comprising more than 28 member organizations. These member organizations are led by Women Living with HIV (WLHIV), with over 51% representation of WLHIV in both executive boards and general membership. While this structure may be perceived as gender-biased, it reflects a deliberate and necessary affirmative approach in response to the systemic barriers and marginalization faced by WLHIV in accessing services and resources. NFWLHA is an organization of and for these women, committed to amplifying their voices and leadership. Currently, NFWLHA is governed by a seven-member executive board, all of whom are women living with HIV.
The federation works to unite and strengthen member organization and community based organizations (CBO) , raise awareness and understanding of HIV and AIDS, promote preventive measures, Policy Advocacy and also advocate for a just and inclusive society where women living with HIV and their children can live free from stigma and discrimination. In addition, NFWLHA places a strong strategic focus on youth living with HIV(YLHIV) and Children Affected by HIV and AIDS (CABA), working to ensure their access to comprehensive services, build their capacities, and promote their meaningful participation in decision-making processes.
